Ruth Sosa Bailey
About
Ruth Sosa Bailey is a folk artist whose works are predominantly expressed through three dimensional mosaic objects. Many of her works are inspired by brightness of color, nature, femininity, music and outer space.
In 2017, Ruth started working on Imagine Space, her Houston Art Car Parade award winning vehicle made of stained glass, tile and found objects showing our solar system.
Raised in Houston's Historic 6th Ward, Ruth attended Dow Elementary, where she continues to have deep ties with the building now known as Muticultural Education & Counseling through the Arts (MECA Houston). She has taught classes to both children and adults, as well as mentored other artists through her mosaic instruction.
Ruth also co-founded the small non-profit JSB Music Room which honors her late husband, Jeffrey Samuel Bailey.
The exquisitely crafted room hosts musical experiences for new artists growing their craft through rehearsal space and private curated exhibitions.
Ruth is currently working on a public art project at Smither Park with the Orange Show.
