About

Felecia Chatman is an artist, educator, photographer, and Black traveler. Her practice is interested in interdisciplinary strategies that intersect community-based education, and the symbiotic relationship between nature and humans. Felecia promotes, advocates, and creates spaces for children, youth, and adults in international communities to use the power of words, songs, and environmental spaces to see themselves.

Oftentimes in the international development sphere, there is a stereotypical image of Black people around the world and she engages and collaborates with Black and Brown communities to archive their testimonies and teach through art how to have conscious conversations around international affairs and see themselves in that sphere by learning how to use language that amplifies their voices. She archives these testimonials through performative art using words, song, and interpretative dance to reenact the voices of others.
