Amy Lee
About
In my work, I depend on the ever-shifting digital material of the internet. I am fascinated by how connections are formed, from personal updates to commercial interventions, and I follow the ebullient streams of images that patchwork our daily affairs, as closely as I humanely can. I am influenced by cultural events that hearken to our interpersonal leanings. I explore this visual data with historical and biographical theories. Above all, I conjure memories like snapshots of a quiet conversation that happened in a dream.
Currently, I am working with digital media to produce illustrations that address a spontaneous nature of grace. Is it possible to find gentleness in a face-paced world? Can we filter through all that we see, and still preserve a core of stillness? I am experienced in traditional fine arts with drawing, painting, printing, and sculpting. I translate these techniques using virtual graphite, inks, and paints to tell a story of today. I want to make sense of the internet, so we can take ownership of this story.
