About

Apinya Srikhwanthong is a visual artist from Bangkok currently based in Texas. She graduated from the Academy of Art University in 2016 with a BFA in Fine Art, Painting. She is knowledgeable and highly proficient in a range of mediums including oil paint, watercolor, acrylic, and charcoal. Her works have been exhibited in Alaska, New Jersey, San Francisco, Sebastopol, Paso Robles, and Navasota. On an international level, her works have been exhibited in Thailand and China. Through her experience and experimentation with traditional mediums, she has transferred her skills to working with mural paintings and illustration projects, creating mixed media and paper sculptures.

After graduation, she has taught creative paper sculpture and mixed media classes in Fremont and College Station. Apinya later applied to and accepted an offer for the Navasota Artist-in-Residence programs for spring 2018 through summer 2020 with the Arts Council of Brazos Valley. She has been working on local-inspired artwork during her residency on subjects like birds, Texas wildflowers and cacti, historical architecture, and rural landscape. She has painted murals in Austin, Madisonville, and Grimes County. Additionally, she has curated the Honoring 41 exhibition to commemorate the George H.W. Bush Funeral Train, Locomotive 4141, that drove through Navasota in 2018. Living in the historic area, she was honored to collaborate on an illustrated history book project titled Navasota Is Beautiful: the story of a Texas railroad town. Apinya enjoys producing art from her direct observation. Her goal as an artist is to create compelling visuals that illuminate the beauty and richness of the arts and culture as well as to encourage the community to stay inspired and connected.
