Art has always been a tool to connect to everything in the world. As a child, life presented me to forgo several transitions. From being a part of a military family and being born in the Netherlands, change was a constant part of life. Regardless of the change in country, state, or school, the ability to draw and practice art, always felt like home. Drawings were a comfort and joy in life. With each move growing as an individual finding strength and passion through art.
Currently residing in Houston Texas since 2014. I specialize in oil painting, custom crafts, graphic design, and murals. I first embraced art as a profession in 2004. Winning a Governors competition at The Dayton Art Institute and showcasing in multiple local art exhibits. In 2004 my first creative studio, “AirHeadz” Custom Airbrush and Art Studio in Dayton Ohio was born. Personally had the pleasure In 2004 to train 6 senior students in oil painting all to achieve scholarships with those paintings.
After moving to Houston Texas for new opportunity the first accomplishment was graduating with a BA in Graphic and Web Design while also winning “Best In Show” for the graduating portfolio show. While attending The Art Institute of Houston I began the first Fine Arts Club as well as the quarterly event known as the Art Expo supporting all the arts of the students. These efforts lead me to creating a typography mural series inside of City Place Marriott in Spring Texas in 2017, in 2018 I was one of the Astros professional baseball team Mural Artist created in Home run alley and publicized. I have also provided multiple murals and specialty projects to Memorial high school of Houston Texas 2017-2019. With every moment I embrace every new challenge and opportunity.
It is not just a passion or profession but how I communicate my soul to the world through my work. Although I enjoy painting different compositions, once I was introduced to oil painting, composing people became my most chosen subject. I see their beauty, as well as every flaw as a powerful whole. It amazes me the depths of how we harbor knowledge, fear, anger, happiness, history, within our expressions. Knowing this is how we find truth, life, and community in art. When beginning a painting, the eyes are always my first focal point. The eyes determine everything we see and even explain who we are, if you simply look closely. It is the determining key that has to be correctly captured. As the old saying goes. “The eyes are the windows to the soul.” And I pay attention to every detail to portray this feeling as well as communicate the passion I have for the craft. Murals allow me to create what the individual or company finds a level meaning or happiness. Once they happily see the vision come to life is the ultimate goal and in everything I create I hope it speaks to that affect.
